Artist’s Biography

Viraj Mithani’s practice involves painting, printmaking and drawing. He completed his MFA in Painting from the Rhode Island School of Design as a Vikram and Geetanjali Kirloskar Visiting Scholar. He earned a BFA from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago and a Diploma degree in Studio Art from the Chelsea, Camberwell, Wimbledon Colleges of Art and Design (CCW) of the University of the Arts London.

Mithani has had solo and group shows worldwide. His teaching experiences include at Rhode Island School of Design, School of the Art Institute of Chicago, Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Fulton Street Collective and the Chicago Public Library. His curatorial projects: SUGS Gallery, SAIC, Guest Artist Curator at Le Mill and Grazia Magazine, Mumbai. Founding member of Carpe Arte group; initiator and founder of Carpe Arte Supports (2020–21) in India.

Mithani’s work has been written and featured in major publications such as New American Painting, Art Critique, Asian Age, Global Indian, Forbes India Magazine, Hindustan Times, The Indian Express, The Hindu, Elle Decor, Mumbai Mirror, Midday and The Brown Daily Herald.
